    Grand Opera House

    Conceived from a desire for big-city shows, the Grand Opera House in Oshkosh first opened its doors in 1883. The theater was continuously maintained until the 1960s and then had a major face-lift in a restoration during the 1980s. It reopened to the public in 1986 and has been playing a range of performances each year. Tours of the nationally recognized heritage building are available throughout the year.

    Upham Mansion
    This restored mansion was built in 1880 for the third governor of Wisconsin, William Henry Upham. Tours are available of the house and grounds Sundays and Wednesdays.

    Herrling Sawmill
    Built on the site of a historic mill built in 1854, this is one of the few working water turbine-driven sawmills in existence. Displays at this site include historical records of the original site, contsruction of the new mill and demonstrates the milling process.

    Pinecrest Historical Village

    Covering 60 acres and with 25 historical buildings, Pinecrest Historical Village showcases life in northeast Wisconsin of 125 years ago. Guided and self-guided tours wind around the grounds. This village is home of the annual German Festival as well as the Fall Harvest Festival.

    Historic Octagon House

    The Historic Octagon House is a national landmark built in 1856 to be an Indian fort and later used in the underground railroad. Experience history during the home's guided tours. Originally the home of one of Fond du Lac's first Mayors, and rumored as a still for moonshine, this home has a colorful past. Now fully restored, this 12-room home, features nine passageways and a hand-dug underground tunnel.

    Historic Point Basse

    This historical park is built at the founding site of Point Basse, an important colonial settlement along the Wisconsin River. Restored historical buildings, including log cabins and school houses, mark the site. Activites here include a blacksmithing shop, a dairy and hiking trails.

    The village features many historic buildings which have been relocated from the surrounding area. Also, a diesel locomotive and several cabooses are displayed. Open the first and third Sunday’s June thru August 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Group tours by appointment.

    WW II Memorial Building

    This building is dedicated to the 300 citizens of Waushara County who served in World War II. The walls of the building are decorated with plaques telling the story of each veteran. Banquet space for up to 350 people is available in the building.
