Home to more than 260 species of birds, Horicon Marsh in southeast Wisconsin is one of the largest freshwater marshes in the United States. Educational programs are run here and visitors can also hunt, fish, canoe, trap, hike, bike and bird watch in the marsh.

Encompassing roughly 32,000 acres of land, the Horicon National Wildlife Refuge provides visitors with a year-round facility for recreational activities such as hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, hunting, fishing and birdwatching. Nature classes are available at the visitor's center, which is open Monday to Friday and weekends in the springs and fall. The refuge was established in 1941 and is home to a number of wildlife spieces
